Erika Mitsuhashi explores interdisciplinary arts through the merging of projection, choreography and installation art. During her week-long residency, Erika will explore new methods of collaborative installation and projection in partnership with the Knox Performance Centre and Method Dance Society.

About the event
Erika Mitsuhashi is an interdisciplinary artist based on the unceded, ancestral, and occupied, lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Səl̓ílwətaɬ, and Skwxwú7mesh Nations of the Coast Salish peoples, known as Vancouver. Erika’s practice spans disciplines, taking the form of performance for stage, installation, film, scenography and projection design. She uses the body as a site for conceptual thematics including in-betweenness and intimacy, attempts to create with a non-hierarchical approach and is ever delighted by contending with the materiality of the present. Her work has been presented by PAUL Studios Berlin, Powell Street Festival, Surrey Art Gallery, La Serre's OFFTA and the Western Front. She regularly collaborates with fellow artists Alexa Mardon (Mardon + Mitsuhashi) and Francesca Frewer. In addition to her own artistic practice, she is also a producer and co-curator of performances for Boombox, an underground performance venue in a shipping container.
